Online psychologist in Hobart.
Hobart's slower pace can be a gift — and also mean fewer local psychologists and longer waitlists. MeHelp connects you with a registered psychologist online, scheduled in Hobart time.
Sessions run on Hobart time (AEST · AEDT).

Start where you are.
Three quick ways to begin, no matter what stage you're at.
Why online psychologist sessions work for Hobart residents.
Whether you're in the city, out on the eastern shore, or up the Derwent, online sessions cut the travel and the wait. Warm, consistent support from wherever you are.
Online psychology sessions for Hobart residents take those barriers out of the way:
- No commute, no waiting room. Sessions start at your time, from wherever you are.
- Same-week first session. Most Hobart clients see a psychologist within seven days.
- Evening and weekend slots. Easier to fit around work, family, and study.
- The same evidence. Research consistently shows that for most conditions, online therapy is as effective as in-person.
- AEST and AEDT. Sessions adjust to your local time, so a 7pm appointment is actually 7pm Hobart time.

Australian psychologists supporting you across mental health and life challenges. Every condition has its own guide with treatment information.
How to start.
Most Hobart clients have their first session within the same week.
Book a GP appointment
Ask your GP in Hobart for a mental health consultation. A longer appointment gives you time to talk through what's going on.
Get your plan and referral
Your GP can prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan and signed referral. MeHelp needs both before bulk-billed sessions can begin.
Send it to MeHelp
Upload your documents to our secure folder, email them, or ask your GP to fax. We'll match you with a psychologist and book your first Hobart-time session.
With a referral, or without.
Both get you to the same place — an AHPRA-registered psychologist, online. The difference is cost and a GP visit.
With a Medicare referral
Bulk billed — nothing to pay.
- Up to 10 sessions a calendar year
- Needs a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan + referral
- We bill Medicare directly
Without a referral
Pay privately — no GP required.

- Often a first session this week
- Completely private — nothing shared
The simplest part.
out-of-pocket per session

Local support in and around Hobart.
Hobart is covered by Tasmania PHN, which trades as Primary Health Tasmania and covers the whole state, including Flinders Island and King Island. The Hobart urban area had 226,653 people at the 2021 Census.
Tasmania's Department of Health lists two walk-in mental health centres in Hobart: Safe Haven, Hobart and the Mental Health Integration Hub, Hobart. It also lists the Glenorchy Medicare Mental Health Centre in Glenorchy. For young people, there is headspace Hobart in the city and headspace Eastern Shore at Rosny Park.
The Department lists the Access Mental Health Phoneline as a 24/7 service. Having an online psychologist does not replace these Tasmanian services, and you do not have to choose one or the other. Someone might keep seeing their GP in Hobart, know that Safe Haven or the Integration Hub is there in person, use the Access Mental Health Phoneline out of hours, and work through ongoing concerns with a MeHelp psychologist by video. For people on the Eastern Shore or in Glenorchy, video sessions also save a trip into the city. If you need help right away, please use the crisis contacts listed on this page.
