Sessions run on Alice Springs time (ACST (no daylight saving)).

Start where you are.
Three quick ways to begin, no matter what stage you're at.
Why online psychologist sessions work for Alice Springs residents.
Alice Springs sits close to the middle of the continent, roughly as far from Adelaide as it is from Darwin. With the nearest capital that far away, an online session means you can see a psychologist without planning around a trip.
Online psychology sessions for Alice Springs residents take those barriers out of the way:
- No commute, no waiting room. Sessions start at your time, from wherever you are.
- Same-week sessions. Choose a first appointment time that suits you when you book.
- Evening and weekend slots. Easier to fit around work, family, and study.
- Nationally registered. MeHelp psychologists are registered with AHPRA to practise across Australia, so where you live doesn't limit who you can see.
- ACST (no daylight saving). Sessions adjust to your local time, so a 7pm appointment is actually 7pm Alice Springs time.
What we work with in Alice Springs.
Australian psychologists supporting you across mental health and life challenges. Every condition has its own guide with treatment information.
How to start.
Using a Medicare referral? These are the three steps. Paying privately? You can go straight to booking.
Book a GP appointment
Ask your GP in Alice Springs for a mental health consultation. A longer appointment gives you time to talk through what's going on.
Get your plan and referral
Your GP can prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan and signed referral. MeHelp needs both before bulk-billed sessions can begin.
Send it to MeHelp
Upload your documents to our secure folder, email them, or ask your GP to fax. We'll match you with a psychologist and book your first Alice Springs-time session.
With a referral, or without.
Both get you to the same place — an AHPRA-registered psychologist, online. The difference is cost and a GP visit.
With a Medicare referral
Bulk billed — nothing to pay.
- Up to 10 sessions a calendar year
- Needs a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan + referral
- We bill Medicare directly
Without a referral
Pay privately — no GP required.
- No GP visit, no referral
- No session limit — go at your pace
- Often a first session this week
- Completely private — nothing shared
The simplest part.
out-of-pocket per session
With a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP and a signed referral, MeHelp accepts the Medicare rebate as full payment. We don't charge a gap fee.
What's covered

Many ways to fund Alice Springs sessions.
Medicare bulk billing is the most common path. Other options are available depending on your situation.

Local support in and around Alice Springs.
Alice Springs, known in Eastern Arrernte as Mparntwe, is covered by Northern Territory PHN, the single Primary Health Network for the whole territory.
The NT Government lists the Central Australia mental health services based in Alice Springs. They include community, remote, forensic and child and youth/perinatal teams, a Crisis Assessment Triage Team (CATT), a sub-acute facility and the mental health inpatient unit at Alice Springs Hospital. For young people aged 12 to 25, headspace Mparntwe Alice Springs is on Todd Street. The territory's Medicare Mental Health Centres are in Casuarina in Darwin and in Katherine, so there is no centre in town.
The Northern Territory mental health line appears on the NT Government's 24 hour mental health hotlines page. A MeHelp psychologist works alongside these services, not instead of them. Your GP or clinic stays your regular point of care, the public teams cover crisis and hospital care, and MeHelp offers planned sessions by phone or video, whether you are in town or further out in Central Australia. If anyone is in immediate danger, turn to the crisis contacts lower on this page.
